The Bakersfield Convention & Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce California Interscholastic Federation, the governing body of high school sports in California, has selected Bakersfield as the host city for the 2010 - 2012 State Wrestling Championships. The announcement came during a news conference held on March 6. The Bakersfield CVB and Rabobank Arena successfully bid for the next three years of the event, which carries with it a total estimated economic impact of $6 million to the city.
"We are extremely pleased CIF chose Bakersfield and Rabobank Arena to host the next three state wrestling championships,” said Don Cohen, manager of the Bakersfield CVB. “First class facilities, central location, and a family friendly community are just a few reasons why CIF continues to come back to Bakersfield.”
The tournament has been held in Bakersfield since 2004, with an estimated 21,000 wrestlers, spectators, officials, and media personnel attending the two-day event. Bakersfield and Stockton were the two cities that submitted proposals to CIF for the event.

The Bakersfield Convention & Visitors Bureau has teamed up with
meetingmax planning inc. to offer web-based housing reservations for
city wide conventions, meetings and events. The new system gives
meeting planners and attendees a complimentary, secure and convenient way of booking
hotel rooms online for Bakersfield events.
The system allows meeting planners to setup room
blocks with local partner hotel properties and track reservations
though a user-friendly interface. The program gives the attendees the luxury of choosing their
hotel based on multiple factors, such as room size, price, and location
based on preferences set forth by the event organizer or the CVB.
Attendees are assured their room is booked through the program’s
confirmation process.

Are you planning a meeting for a non-profit group? If so, a meeting in Bakersfield automatically gets your group FREE meeting space. Groups from 20 to 2,000 are welcome to use the small private rooms or two large banquet halls available at the facility.
The events center, located in downtown Bakersfield, has ample free parking, business services, equipment and furniture. This is a limited time offer and is subject to availability. Spaces are available during the day and early evening, Monday through Sunday. The event center is close to Highway 99 and less than two miles from many hotel properties.
