ABA U.S. Nationals a Huge Success!
Metro BMX, one of California's premier ABA-sanctioned bicycle motocross (BMX) facilities, recently hosted the ABA (American Bicycle Association) U.S. Nationals. The thrilling event spanned three days, the highlight of which was the ABA BMX PRO Series Event. This competition featured some of the best men and women riders in the world, fresh from their inaugural exhibition in the Beijing Olympics. All three 2008 Olympic medalist, Maris Strombergs (GOLD and current BMX WORLD Champion), Mike Day (SILVER), and Donny Robinson (BRONZE) attended as well as all of the members from the 2008 U.S.A. Olympic team.
ABA officials noted total attendance was up 10 percent from the same event held in a different California city last year. Metro BMX track staff attributed the success to Bakersfield’s central location and weather, not to mention being home to one of the premier race venues in all of California.
