MAY PUPPY PIN UP - NANI

Nani is a five month old Labrador retriever from Australia. She is the 22nd puppy to be raised for our program by Elaine Randall and her family in Pukalani. Nani is a smart and confident puppy who enjoys going everywhere with Elaine, including the golf course. She has already learned over 40 commands and will graduate from puppy kindergarten class next week!

CONGRATULATIONS NIKI!

Congratulations to Niki Rojas, who just graduated from King Kekaulike High School. Niki and her Assistance Dog Molly have been best friends and partners for the past eight years. Niki also participated in our Workplace Readiness Program and was a valuable employee during her last year of high school. She is planning on attending the Maui College Culinary Program.

TRAINING UPDATE

The kindergarten puppy class went on a field trip to the shopping mall this week. They enjoyed going on the elevators and practicing their skills in the stores. They were on their best behavior walking through the china department at Macy’s! The puppies have one more week to go before they take their final exams to graduate from the kindergarten class and begin basic training.

OPEN HOUSE

Thanks to all the wonderful volunteers and guests who joined us for our recent Open House on Maui. Over 100 people enjoyed touring the campus, meeting the puppies in training and graduate teams, and watching training demonstrations. Participants learned about the many programs and services offered by Assistance Dogs of Hawaii that help enhance the lives of children and adults with disabilities and other special needs.

WOUNDED WARRIOR PROGRAM

For the past fourteen years we have had the privilege of placing Service Dogs, Facility Dogs and Therapy Dogs with veterans who have served our country in the armed forces. As our Wounded Warrior Program continues to expand each year, we are so thankful for the opportunity to give back to those who have sacrificed so much for us. Our next Wounded Warrior Team will be graduating next month!
