Dear Friend,
As promised, this High Performance Training Tip contains an excerpt from my upcoming training diary. One of the columns is designated to writing the "goal of next session": "This is another example of the power of the words we use and how we interpret our performances. "If my knees pass my toes in the squat I can interpret it as a fault. I can choose to tell myself that “I can’t keep my knees behind my toes in the squat”. "Now I am giving attention to my technical flaw and thereby strengthening that pattern. "Instead of the above thought pattern we could also write “toes stayed behind the knees”. Formulate what you want – not what you don’t want. Now you are giving attention to the solution, not the problem. "In your next workout, during your warm-up or lighter sets, focus on creating the correct pattern. "You can also use this column to focus on emotion, focus, load or reps. Keep it simple. Limit yourself to one factor." The full diary will be available shortly. Stay tuned!
