High Performance Training Tips #46
July 28th, 2008
Dear Friend,
There can be no strength without optimal health of the internal organs

Q: Why do you write so much about health? I don't really care, I just want to look good and be strong.

A: Unless you are using illegal supplements health is a MUST for optimizing your fitness levels (looking good) and performance (being strong) in the long term.

There is truly a pyramidal relationship between health, general fitness and specific high performance.

pyramid

Without health you will not have the physical ressources to train for general fitness (or Genereal Physical Preparedness - a term often used in the sporting world).

Without General Physical Preparedness you don't have the physical resources to complete and recover from the demands of high level specific practice.

Most of the athletes or clients I know will have an intellectual - but not emotional - acceptance of this relationship and thus may not take the necessary action to become truly healthy.

What confuses us is that we may see friends "being healthy" (most people think being healthy equates to not being sick - nothing is further from the truth), yet at the same time treat their stomachs as garbage cans.

(My appologies for the harsh analogy)

The questions that need to be asked are:

How close are your friends to their full human potential?

I am sure you know several examples of what we as human beings are capable of. If you want some inspiration go check out
www.dennisrogers.net - or punch his name in on you tube and see him hit a nail through a few inches of wood using his bare HAND!

How close are YOU to your full potential?

Are you content or do you want MORE?

To be continued...

Committed to your uninterrupted success,
Karsten Jensen

"If you're tired of the same boring exercises and need a change The Magnificent 35 will certainly mix things up for you in a big way.  This is one of the most creative collection of exercises that I've ever seen.  Your workouts will be a lot more fun.  You'll burn more calories, giving you more fat loss, and of course you will become much stronger.  A must have for anyone serious about their training and more serious about results."
