High Performance Training Tips #56
September 1st, 2008
Dear Friend,
Mental Pictures for
Increased Muscle Mass

In the great book "Muscle Control" old time Strongman Maxick states that manual labour workers, like stone cutters, "should be big", due to their all day activity with sledgehammers, but they are not, because their mind "is on movement and not the muscle".

Having your mind on the MOVEMENT or the MUSCLE during your training is a very interesting distinction.

There is no doubt that if your focus is the movement of any kind, forget about the muscle and keep your mind on the movement using the principles explained in Core Force Energy.

However, if your goal is to increase your muscle mass keep your mind on the muscle - whatever gets attention grows.

Try this:

  1. Pick any exercise and include an isometric hold in the top, mid or bottom position.
  2. During the hold, squeeze your muscles as hard as possible, FEELING the contraction and SEEING the shape and size you desire for that muscle.

For a muscle oriented visualization in a dynamic movement, the following strategy is intense (This tip is inspired by my friend Garin Bader, creator of the amazing Core Force Energy program.):

  1. Pick an exercise that focuses on a specific muscle, for example the biceps curl.
  2. Pick up a dumbbell that you can lift for 6-12 reps and assume the start position and imagine a sphere/ball of tornado like energy touching the front of your biceps at the level of the muscle belly.
  3. As you curl the weight up and the biceps shorten, imagine that the movement of the muscle fibres are spinning that sphere/ball of tornado like energy.
  4. You should feel an amazing contraction of the biceps muscle.

Give these strategies a try and let me know how they work.

Committed to your uninterrupted success,
Karsten Jensen

Note: Core Force Energy IS amazing, but don't take my word for it. Check it out yourself.
