Mount Nemo Plateau Heritage Conservation District Study:  Award of Contract to Consulting Team and Commencement of Study

The city is reviewing the Mount Nemo Plateau cultural heritage landscape through a Heritage Conservation District Study process.  The earlier 2014 preliminary study identified that the Mount Nemo Plateau possesses heritage character worthy of recognition as a cultural heritage landscape.  The study also strongly recommended that the city undertake a Heritage Conservation District Study of the Mount Nemo Plateau area.

The city has recently retained MMM Group, in association with Archaeological Services Inc. and DBH Soil Services, to initiate the Heritage Conservation District study, in accordance with Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act

The new webpage is now 'live' and it will be updated as the process moves forward - please visit here for more information: www.burlington.ca/mountnemo.  You can find documents related to the study, general background and information on how to get involved.

You may soon see the consulting team as they are starting their initial field review on Monday, November 3rd working from the public right-of-ways (e.g. roads).  Private property will not be entered as part of this research.  This work includes the identification and evaluation of the key cultural heritage landscape(s) and natural heritage features.

If you have any questions regarding the study, please feel free to contact the Senior Heritage Planner, Penny Young, project lead, at 905-335-7600 ext. 7559 or by email at MountNemoStudy@burlington.ca
