Radiesse Offers Longer Lasting Results
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has recently approved Radiesse, a next-generation cosmetic dermal filler, for the long-lasting correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles. Unlike other fillers that last just a few months, Radiesse has been shown to last one year or more.
These results are possible because Radiesse is the first filler that contains calcium-based microspheres. This technology not only provides volume replacement to wrinkles and folds but also stimulates the body to produce new collagen. This unique action restores the fullness and contours of a youthful, healthy appearance.
Studies evaluating Radiesse were conducted at four different medical centers. In these studies, 117 women were treated; half of their face was treated with Radiesse and the other half was treated with collagen. Six months after treatment, 82% of patients experienced an improvement in wrinkles around the mouth and nose (nasolabial folds) with Radiesse. In 95% of the women, results from Radiesse were superior to those from collagen.
Radiesse can also be used to create cheekbones and enhance the contours of the face.

PCA Peels Quickly Smooth Lines, Texture & Tone
Chemical peels have long been used to quickly smooth fine lines on the face, and even skin tone and texture.
Like other skin rejuvenation technologies, peels produce a controlled injury to the skin. This initiates a wound healing process that regenerates the epidermis. The initial response is coagulation and inflammation. As this occurs, clotting factors are activated and re-epithelialization begins to generate new tissue. Endothelial cells then migrate to the treated area and continue the healing process. Finally, collagen reorients in a parallel fashion, giving the skin softness and resiliency.
The result is diminished lines and wrinkles as well as a reduction in pigmentation irregularities, superficial scarring, and acne.
In general, the deeper the peel, the more profound the result. Superficial peels, which exfoliate only the uppermost layers of the skin, may be used on the face as well as the thinner skin of the neck, chest and hands. Medium-strength peels are used only on the face. They penetrate into the dermis and thus can address deeper wrinkles.
PCA consists of salicylic acid – a beta-hydroxy acid which is found naturally in willow bark, wintergreen leaves, and sweet birch bark. Formulations containing high concentrations of salicylic acid help slough off dead cells and debris while stimulating the skin’s natural renewal process.
Many people find that superficial peels once every month or two will keep them looking their best, although some prefer deeper peels once or twice a year. To learn more about chemical peels, click here.

Juvederm Erases Wrinkles Naturally
Juvederm does more than quickly smooth away lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. It also offers a natural way to turn back time, gently reversing some of the most significant affects of age.
The new dermal filler is able to accomplish this because it is composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Although other fillers also contain hyaluronic acid, Juvederm incorporates a novel cross-linking technology that provides a smoother look and feel.
Cross-linking also helps Juvederm last longer. While hyaluronic acid normally occurs in liquid form, which the body metabolizes and eliminates in less than a day, cross-linked Juvederm is a gel that lasts one year or more. This means that after Juvederm is injected, its wrinkle-reducing effects last 12 months or longer. In June 2007, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved changes to the product’s labeling indicating that the effects of Juvederm may last for one year. No other dermal filler is approved to last as long.
In addition to its superior results, Juvederm is also the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is proven to be safe and effective for persons with darker skin tones.

Botox Restores a Youthful Look
Wrinkling near the eyes and in the forehead is one of the earliest signs of aging. Even relatively young people can develop lines in these areas as a result of stress or excess sun exposure, making them look older than they actually are.
Fortunately, this problem is one of the easiest to correct. FDA approved for the treatment of lines and wrinkles, Botox can quickly restore a natural, youthful look to the face.
Injection with Botox takes about 15 minutes. Shortly thereafter, Botox begins blocking nerve transmission to specific muscles, putting those muscles to rest for the next few months. That causes wrinkles in the affected muscles to virtually disappear. The full effects of Botox appear within 2 to 10 days after injection and results last from 3 to 4 months.
One of the greatest benefits of Botox is no downtime. Patients can go back to their normal routine immediately.
