The bands brought in the biggest crowd that we have had on Friday and Saturday evenings. Great Job, Jim Salek, Premiums Plus Promotional Products, Inc.
Our Volunteers were awesome this year!! They were willing to work wherever they were needed and many worked more hours than they signed up for originally. The word is that everyone that volunteered had fun (some could have done without the rain on Saturday.)
We want to Thank the Boy Scout Troop 30, Quest, and the Explorers for doing a great job again this year. These three groups are a tremendous help for us with parking, security and cleanup.A special thanks to Laverne Fogt for working in the parking area and helping with car show traffic on Saturday. She always does a terrific job for us.
Ron Westphal Chevrolet did a wonderful job with the car show which had a lower turn out than usual due to the rain. NorthStar Credit Union provided a very nice car calendar for our entrants and the winners from last year really liked seeing their pictures on a calendar. Haggerty Ford did a very nice job with their car clinic again this year. This year's winners were:

Thanks, Naper Settlement for providing a new opportunity for networking to your fellow members of our Chamber!

The QualityLifeCenter at 28W583 Stafford Place in Warrenville, Illinois is has a new owner, Dr. Steven Yingling. To welcome him to the practice, the Quality Life Center hosted an Open House on July 21 from 1-4pm. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at 2:00 pm with the Warrenville Chamber of Commerce and Mayor David Brummel. Free refreshments and goodie bags were provided to Mayor David Brummel, Chamber members and Staff, patients, friends, and guests.
Growing up in NapervilleIllinois, Dr. Yingling attended NapervilleNorthHigh school and College of DuPage before going out of state to University of New Mexico for his undergraduate degree in Biology. He worked several years as an Associate Health Physicist in West Chicago, before deciding to go back to school to pursue a career in Chiropractic Medicine at National University of Health Sciences.
Dr. Yingling and other members of his family were patients of the Quality Life Center and became familiar with the outstanding care that the center provided. When the opportunity presented itself for Dr. Yingling to join the QLC as a chiropractor and owner, he knew that it would be an ideal fit. “As a patient, I always appreciated the welcoming and relaxing atmosphere and the individualized care that Quality Life Center offered. As the new owner, my goal is to continue to provide patients and clients the same great environment and positive healthcare experience” explains Dr. Yingling.
Understanding that physical ailments arise from a multitude of causes and are exacerbated by the physical, mental, and emotional states of the individual, the Quality Life Center employs therapies to address the unique needs of every patient. The Quality Life Center will continue to offer an array of services such as Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Massage and Nutritional Counseling within its seven treatment rooms. Dr. Yingling’s primary focus will be Chiropractic Care and Acupuncture. Therapists Fran Stabosz, Diane Barango, and Jessica Slotterbeck will continue to provide a variety of services including Rolfing, Cranial Sacral Therapy, LaStone, Deep Tissue Massage and Personal Training. Hypnotherapy will also be added to the center’s suite of services to bridge the gap between mind and body. Hypnotherapist, Dr. Tom Greive will be joining the center late July. Sue Prokop and Barb Driber will be staying on as the office staff.
Later this summer, the Quality Life Center will begin offering a variety of free workshops, such as Guided Imagery for Stress Reduction and Introduction to Exercise. For more information about the services and programs at Quality Life Center, please call 630-393-4722. |

Message from the President
For two and a half days we were without electricity in our neighborhood. The crisis provided many opportunities to help each other and find out about skills, personalities and attitudes of those who lived close by.
And often over the recovery weekend, as we do in wonderful weather, I had many long philosophical conversations with my next door neighbor, the carpenter. We both noted and agreed that many found joy helping each other and providing support. This unity also brought a higher appreciation, understanding, empathy and closeness that hadn’t existed before. We speculated that this does occur at work or in any project setting where everyone works toward a common goal.
Later I considered the summer activities just experienced by members of our chamber. Jerry Schilf led a team of volunteers earlier in the season to a most enjoyable and successful golf outing. He donated his time away from company activities, Employee Benefits by Design, to help the chamber and its members enjoy a great networking opportunity. From those I talked with that had volunteered I heard the familiar theme of closeness and appreciation among each other during the planning and execution of the event. Many wanted to help again next year
Director Patricia Haskins devoted much time and effort in coordinating volunteers for Summer Daze. Great help also was provided by Nancy Klasen and our summer supporter, Alexis Robinson. Once again, Jim Salek donated an enormous amount of energy and thought away from Premiums Plus Promotional Products toward the successful and entertaining qualities of the festival. Summer Daze was a fantastic event for the chamber and the community.
Again, from the volunteers of Summer Daze, I listened to the same expressions of their experience. They had a great time, enjoyed helping, experienced a closeness and high regard of others and wanted to participate in next year’s event. I wondered how many other chamber members might have missed an opportunity to build relationships. “Absolutely” is the answer I frequently am told to the final question, “Would you share and provide business to those you got to know while participating in these projects?”

Picnic in the Park
On July 12th, around 25-30 people endured the heat wave and attended out outdoor "Picnic in the Park". We may have been few in number; but we had a number of new people attending this luncheon so those that braved the heat were able to do some meaningful networking. Everyone enjoyed being outside and having a very casual atmosphere for networking. The breeze was really nice; which helped tremendously.
Exective Director Patricia Haskins shared the need for Volunteers for Summer Daze of Warrenville. She also thanked those that have already signed up to volunteer and those that are Sponsoring this event. We gave away an oil change from Dan Wolf Toyota of Naperville.
We also enjoyed a wonderful meal prepared by Family Foods: Their wonderful Fried Chicken (my favorite), Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Potato Salad, Green Salad, Baked beans, fresh vegetables and dip and wonderful brownies for dessert. |

Star Spangled 4th of July Parade
Pictured above: President Lambert Smith, Stone Cliff Productions and his wife LindaSue.
It was a Star Spangled 4th of July Celebration, The weather was beautiful, the parade was a success. The Good Citizenship award winners marched the parade in Summer Daze t-shirts, top hats and glow necklaces, waving their banner proudly, chaperoned by employees from (Odyssey Fun World).

Next in line came the Warrenville Chamber of Commerce float, courtesy of R & J Construction Supplies, Inc, decorated in Stars and Stripes, carrying Clifford the Big Red Dog a.k.a. Linda Salek, (Premiums Plus Promotional Products, Inc.) pulled by a pick-up truck courtesy of Brian Caldwell (Ron Westphal Chevrolet). Clifford gave out candy, Summer Daze flyers and squirted water at the crowd, with help from Incoming President Jeanne Hoffer (The Aubrey Sign Company). Judy Konzman (Lambert’s sister visiting from Madison, Ohio) handed out Frizbees donated by Ron Westphal Chevrolet. Clifford also took pictures with children throughout the 2 day celebration. THANK YOU Clifford, you were quite a “Hot Dog”.
Two Convertibles courtesy of John Czech, (Haggerty Ford) carried our Warrenville Chamber of Commerce President Lambert Smith (Stone Cliff Productions)and his wife LindaSue. The second convertible carried our very own Ms Illinois Dream Girl USA, Jennifer Carlisle, a former Warrenville resident and State Representative Mike Fortner.
Once again the Friends of the Fourth Committee (Chaired by Citizen Member and Former Mayor Vivian Lund) put on a fabulous celebration complete with food from Genoa Pizza, China House, Doggie Diner, Knights of Columbus, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Jamba Juice. Paddock Publications, Trinity Lutheran Church, Immanuel Presbyterian Church and Four Winds had booths. Warrenville Park District did children's games and the Warrenville Historical Society ran a Bingo Tent with Historical Bingo. Music was enjoyed each evening and the fireworks were the best ever. What a great way to celebrate our nation's birthday.

BUSINESS AFTER HOURS - A COZY FIREPLACE
Pictured: President Lambert Smith, Stone Cliff Productions presented Fritz Glass, Jr and Russ Slezak owners of A Cozy Fireplace with a gift for hosting this month's chamber Business After Hours.
On August 29th, A Cozy Fireplace hosted our August Business After Hours. Even though it was a warm muggy evening, over 30 Chamber members took this opportunity to network, socialize and enjoy some great food. Russ & Fritz have a beautiful display room showing all of the various types of fireplaces, grills, mantels, and various supplies that they have available for you to purchase. If you were unable to make the BAH, feel free to stop by anytime--I am sure that Fritz or Russ will be happy to show you around.
Russ and Fritz and their familes went all out in the food department. We had some hot Rosati's Pizza and chicken wings, fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese and crackers, beer, wine, pop and, of course, dessert! They were all homemade: cookies, pumpkin bars and bundt cake. Everything was delicious.
They gave away some really nice gifts and gift certificates. The winners were: Oil Changes - Kathleen Fanning, Transformation Bodywork; Jeanne Hoffer, Aubrey Sign Company; Michael and Suzanne Sailor, Sapphire Travel and Cruises; Shawn Deiter, Employee Benefits by Design. Rosati's Pizza - Sheila Rutledge, Captured and John Pezzulo, Jonlyn & Associates CPA's. Dairy Queen - Ren Hughes, NorthStar Credit Union; Avalanche Sports Bar - Cliff Johnson, Baird & Warner. Portable Cooler with supplies - Chamber Executive Director Patricia Haskins. Deluxe Grill Tool Set - Kevin O'Rouke, Amalgamated Bank.
Thanks, Russ and Fritz and family for a terrific time of networking, delicious food and hospitality. You have a beautiful showroom and some of us after seeing your show may consider redoing our fireplaces or thinking more about having a fireplace. If anyone reading this article is in need of any supplies for your fireplace or grill; if you are considering putting in a fireplace or purchasing a new grill--you must stop by and check them out. They are right next to the Dairy Queen just east of Rt 59. |
