A spam trap is a seemingly valid email address used to identify spam messages & senders. The idea behind a spam trap is to take an email address that hasn't been subscribed to any mailing lists and track the email it receives. Since it has not subscribed to any mailing lists, anything it receives must be unsolicited or spam.
